From Those Who Have Used My Method

THE PANTS REALLY DO FIT... I am a veteran home sewer and also own an alterations business. One of my specialties is fitting pants on my clients. Unfortunately. I have had little success with my own pants. Every time you have a new article on pants fitting, I dive right in, thinking that my problems may be solved. My small waist and large hips with bonus saddlebags have left me near tears every time. So, when I saw "Best Fitting Pants-Ever" in the January issue, I of course, thought, "Oh yeah!" But, business was slow, so I decided to give it a try. It took less time than driving to the fabric store! The initial try-on showed more promise than anything I had managed to do with a commercial pattern. It needed some ease added and a deeper scoop on the crotch seam, and then-wow! I have pants befitting an alterations specialist. thanks for the amazing magazine. I would love to see some tips and articles on ready-to-wear alterations.

I loved the article in the latest THREADS magazine by Claudette Grant about how to draft a pants pattern. I love drafting using that "connect-the-dots" method. It would be wonderful if you did a series of drafting tutorials using this method. I've already made the pants pattern!

As a young girl, I took up sewing and loved it! As I grew older and started working, I found myself without a sewing machine. Instead of buying one, I started buying ready-made clothes. Recently, I re-discovered why I loved sewing. Being an upside-down triangles, getting clothes to fit is a real challenge. Even now, I find that adjusting patterns for a smaller back-side is continual. that is why I was so thrilled when I read your January 2008 article on "The Best-Fitting Pants-Ever". For once, I was able to make pants that fit me! Thank you. As an avid subscriber the Threads magazine, I am hoping you will continue to provide great step-by-step instructions to help everyone build a perfect wardrobe.

Thank you for your instructions on drafting a pants pattern. I am in the process of making pants for a friend using your instructions. The muslin (the first fit) was awesome. I also made pants for me several years ago using your instructions. They were the best fitting pants I have made. I look forward to your blog on drafting patterns for other garments.
